Transparency Needed with Canada Summer Jobs Attestation Feedback

OTTAWA, ON – Yesterday, Dave Mackenzie, Member of Parliament for Oxford put forth a formal question on the Order Paper requesting the Minister of Employment be transparent about which faith leaders and other stakeholder she reached out to requesting feedback on the 2018 Canada Summer Jobs program.

“The Minister said she would meet with stakeholders and faith leaders to get feedback on the 2018 program. I believe it is important for Canadians to know the process she used to get the feedback,” said MacKenzie.

Referring to an August 27, 2018 story in The Hill Times, the order paper question asks for the complete list of faith leaders which the Minister reached out to between August 27, 2018 and September 17, 2018. It specifies wanting details about each communication including the date, recipient, and type of communication.

“The most significant part of the order paper question is, what criteria did the Minister use to decide which faith leaders to reach out to,” added MacKenzie. “I want to know how many faith leaders whose organizations were refused funding have been asked for feedback,” he concluded.
