Toyota Boshoku

On September 13, Dave joined local and provincial officials in welcoming Toyota Boshoku to Oxford county at a groundbreaking ceremony.

“I am sure you will find Oxford the most welcoming of places,” he assured company representatives during the ceremony.

Dave highlighted the strengths of Oxford’s workforce, a significant factor in Toyota Boshoku’s decision to locate in Woodstock, where Toyota is also building a new production plant.

The growth of Oxford’s auto sector is part of the overall growth of Oxford’s economy. “There’s no doubt we’re one of the most exciting areas in the province to be right now,” said Dave, commenting on the vitality of Oxford’s economy. “We’ve got a reputation for our well-educated, dedicated work force.”

Dave also noted that the decision by Toyota and its affiliated companies to locate in Canada reflect on the overall economic management of Canada. “We’re committed to sound fiscal management, value for dollars, and accountable government. I think companies appreciate that.”

“I look forward to a long and profitable relationship between Oxford and Toyota,” Dave remarked at the ceremony.

Toyota Boshoku will supply parts for the Toyota RAV 4, which will be produced at the new Woodstock Toyota plant. Production of the RAV 4 is expected to begin in 2008.
