The Government of Canada Improves Accessibility in Ingersoll

Ottawa, ON – Dave MacKenzie, Member of Parliament for Oxford and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Safety, today announced on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, funding for two worthy projects in Ingersoll through the Enabling Accessibility Fund.

“Our government is supporting people with disabilities and their families,” said MacKenzie. Through the Enabling Accessibility Fund, this project will help people with disabilities by improving access to Ingersoll’s facilities, activities and services”.

  • The Town of Ingersoll is receiving $24,500.00 to enable accessible washrooms.
  • The Town of Ingersoll is receiving $25,500.00 to install audible pedestrian signals at three intersections.

These projects are two of 169 projects announced by Minister Finley on December 3rd 2009. The three-year, $45-million Enabling Accessibility Fund is part of the Government of Canada’s commitment to address the needs of people with disabilities.
