Trudeau Government Marks Two Years of Tax Hikes

November 8, 2017

OTTAWA, ON – Dave MacKenzie, Member of Parliament for Oxford released the following statement marking the two year anniversary of the Trudeau government:

“Conservatives believe in lowering taxes and we are committed to presenting a positive vision for those frustrated by Justin Trudeau. Our Conservative movement has room for every Canadian who believes in responsible government spending, lower taxes, and a more affordable Canada for everyone.”

“Halfway through their four year mandate, the Liberals have little to celebrate and much to answer for. Ontario families are paying higher taxes under this Prime Minister, and Justin Trudeau’s policies are making it increasingly difficult for hardworking Ontarians to make ends meet.”

“Justin Trudeau’s out-of-control spending is resulting in massive deficits, and the Prime Minister must pay the money back somehow. That’s why taxes are going up. The Prime Minister wants to raise taxes on: health and dental benefits, employee discounts, public transit, music and soccer programs for children, post-secondary education and textbooks, small businesses and beer, wine and spirits.”

“Under the Trudeau government, we have seen taxes raised on our farmers, ranchers and local businesses. Middle class families are also paying more taxes. A Fraser Institute report found that 81% of middle class families are paying, on average, $840 more each year. Ontarians deserve much better.”
